A structure that floats, which is a perfect remedy for
flood-stricken areas, the idea is based on much –used, age
old Archimedes principle of buoyancy.
The super structure is
made up of light weight materials, and the slab is made up
of composite materials i.e. fiber glass and polyurethene.
The structure is attached to four stainless steel pillars
that have been embedded deep underground in a manner that
allows it to freely slide up and down. When the area
floods, the structure can rise up to a height of 15 feet.
The depth height and other criteria to construct these
cabins can be adopted to meet different requirements
depending on local flood level data. This cabin can be
designed to store food, water and medicines during floods
.It can be constructed in flood –prone areas.
This project has bagged Ist place in sate level project
exhibition Srishti-07 held at BEC Bagalkot.

Best Project of the
year Award to KVG College of Engineering

The project
titled "Smart Wheel Chair" exhibited by the
Electronics and Communications Engineering students of our
college was adjudged as outstanding project of the year
and was selected for the "Best project of the year
award" during seminar cum exhibition held at P.D.A.
College of Engineering, Gulbarga on 29th and 30th of
September 2006 sponsored by Karnataka State Council of
Science and Technology, Bangalore. This project was
developed by Mr. Prashant Kumar Shetty, Mr. Santosh Kumar
Shetty and Mr. Shamanth Bhagwat K, final year students of
E & C Engineering under the guidance of Prof. B.S.

sugestions of Dr. S.G. Gopalakrishna, principal.
This wheel
chair is designed to provide mobility to physically
handicapped people. Control of wheel chair can be using
muscular movement sensors connected to neck or palm or
even to an impaired leg. Another sensor monitors the
obstacles coming in the path of the wheel chair and
co-ordinates the movement of the wheel chair. A remote
controller is also provided to make it automatic.
Provision is also made to operate the wheel chair through
foot sensor. The wheel chair is battery operated.
This can be used in hospitals and homes for the mobility
of the patients and physically impaired persons.
